3) Create or Update Mailchimp Member

Use workflows to automatically create or update Mailchimp member.

1) Trigger Sending Action

The concept to trigger sending action for survey, review request, and interview request is the same. Below is a list of available trigger types for Mailchimp:

  • Mailchimp (List Members)
  • Mailchimp (Segment Members)

In this example, we will show how you can trigger sending action to Mailchimp members by segment.

  • If you haven't setup survey, follow guide to setup one-click email survey.
  • Go to connections page and connect to your Mailchimp account.
  • Go to triggers page and add a new trigger. In this example, we'll select Send Survey action.
  • Select Mailchimp (Segment Members)  for trigger type.
  • Select Mailchimp segment to filter.
  • Once setup, we will automatically send survey to new users from specified Mailchimp segment.

2) Fetch Pulse Data

You can fetch number of Mailchimp members by list or segment and use it for pulse notifications.

Follow steps below to setup pulse notifications.

  • Go to connections page and connect to your Mailchimp account.
  • Go to pulses page and add a new pulse. Select one of Mailchimp's pulse type. In this example, we'll select Mailchimp (Segment Members)
  • After you have setup pulse, you can use it to setup notifiers.

3) Create or Update Mailchimp Member

You can use workflows to automatically create or update Mailchimp member when:

  • Someone response to survey

In this example, we will show how you can automatically create or update Mailchimp member when a survey respondent is created.

  • If you haven't setup survey, follow guide to setup one-click email survey.
  • Go to connections page and connect to your Mailchimp account.
  • Go to workflows page and add a new workflow. For event type, select Survey Respondent (Created)
  • Specify conditions for workflow to be executed. For example, you can set conditions to only execute workflows for specific surveys.
  • Click on Add Action and select Mailchimp (Create or Update Member) for action type.

In order for us to automatically create or update Mailchimp member, we need to be able extract email from survey respondent. As such, "email" must be specified as respondent trait (This is done automatically for you if you are sending surveys via email). For surveys that are not distributed via emails, see guide on how to add traits for respondent.

  • Click Add Fields Mapping if you wish to map additional fields to Mailchimp. You can use data from survey answer, respondent traits, or manually specify a static value.
  • Click Save Action for configured action.
  • Click Save to create workflow.
  • Once setup, OnVoard will automatically create or update Mailchimp member if workflow is executed.

Multiple Actions within a Workflow

To take things further, you can add multiple actions to a single workflow and it will be executed in sorted order. For example, we can use workflows to automatically create/update Mailchimp member and then assign tags to it. Below is a list of Mailchimp related action types:

  • Mailchimp (Create or Update Member)
  • Mailchimp (Update Member Tags)
